Five simple ways to protect your focus
Open, social spaces are great for energy — less so for deep work. Here is how to carve out real focus without hiding away.
A shared floor hums with good energy. But some days you just need to disappear into one task and get it done. These five small habits help our members find real focus — no corner office required.
Start with a ritual
Your brain loves a signal. Same seat, same playlist, headphones on — a small routine tells your mind it is time to work. It sounds simple because it is.
Book a room for the hard stuff
When a task really matters, an hour in a quiet room beats three at a busy desk. Block it in the morning while rooms are still open.
Batch the shallow work
Reply to messages in a couple of set windows instead of all day long. You will be surprised how much calmer the afternoon feels.
Use the whole space, not just your desk
- A phone booth for calls, so your desk stays a thinking spot
- The lounge for reading and rough first drafts
- A window seat when you need a lift
Try just one of these this week. Small changes add up faster than you would think.
